The role:

As a Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play an active role in deploying, maintaining, and supporting our existing infrastructure including server, storage, network, data and applications. You will also actively participate in and support various IT projects alongside the wider team to improve and enhance key systems and processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of engineers, acting as a point of escalation, providing guidance and support as required.
  • Owning the delivery and resolution of project actions, technical problems & incidents.
  • Liaising with internal and external partners, including user groups, technical IT consultants and project managers.
  • Demonstrating an elevated level of technical expertise in Microsoft technologies and virtualisation, Cloud technologies, networking and storage.
  • Supporting the technology operations management team in developing and delivering innovative technology initiatives.
  • Ensure technical documents and policies for the infrastructure and up to date and accurate and adhered to.
  • Measure and report on the IT infrastructure for capacity planning and lifecycle requirements.
  • Active involvement in the Firms security posture and ensure that everything introduced is implemented securely.
  • Improving the technical skills of more junior team members by providing mentorship and acting as a point of escalation for difficult issues.
  • Actively participate in the Change Management Board meetings and manage change within the infrastructure team.  
  • Ensure that all services are appropriately licenced and assist with tracking and costing license and certificate renewals.
  • Review logs, monitoring solutions, alerts, and other items to ensure that IT systems and services are available, performant and secure at all times

You will need:

The role requires a broad set of skills and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. To drive success, you will need to be hands on and experienced with a vast range of IT services with a key mind for problem solving and determination.

  • Previous hands-on experience working as part of an infrastructure delivery team.
  • Experienced in change management/scheduling
  • Understanding of Infrastructure technology and protocols
  • Microsoft solutions (Exchange, AD, SQL, VPN, DNS, DHCP) including cloud-based architecture (Azure)
  • Microsoft 365
  • Experience in virtualisation technologies (VMware and Nutanix preferred)
  • Windows Server Infrastructure
  • Networking (HPE ProCurve and FlexFabric)
  • SAN technology (ideally Nimble and 3PAR)
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop experience with a good understanding of Citrix ADC.
  • A good understanding of firewalls (ideally FortiGate)
  • Strong communication skills.  Can describe complex technical concepts/issues with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly arbitrate, prioritise and filter change/deployment issues to identify solutions.
