The opportunity

We are looking for an exceptional leader to take up an opportunity as Head of our People Team responsible for leading our diverse People Partner and Operations Teams.

We are particularly interested in finding someone who has worked in large or complex  “disrupted” organisations previously and/or led transformation projects at times of rapid organisational growth and change.

Think we need you to come from a Legal background? That’s not the case, we are very open and welcome applications from different industry backgrounds as we appreciate the diversity of ideas and thinking that this can bring.

Initially the role has 5 Direct reports and 8 indirect reports and is likely to grow further.

Role requirements:

  • Acting as a key people liaison to Group and Entity boards
  • Integrate and embed new brands that join Ampa, our parent group
  • Lead any people change activity required to align and realise maximum opportunity and cost  efficiency  from any M&A or internal transformation
  • People Experience lead – to create an exceptional experience at every touchpoint 
  • Building our People iOS – working with the team to create a people proposition that “treats people as adults”, strips out unhelpful rules or processes and helps us evolve in line with our culture code
  • Reward – Aligns our proposition and platform to provide a truly inspiring and attractive total reward offering, reflective of our culture, commitments and growth ambitions
  • Leading the implementation of a group people function, maximising use of IT, team skills; creating an exceptional people experience from pre-joining to on-boarding, career and life events and off-boarding
  • Coaching, developing, energising and inspiring our People Partners, developing their strategic and commercial abilities
  • Evolving how the People Partners work with their entities to create local people strategies and deliver them alongside their client groups, ensuring the right work is undertaken at the right level
  • Collaborating with the wider People Team to embed the people strategy and steer project leads to achieve work stream deliverables

Key skills

  • Grit; determination to see things through, overcoming blockers to deliver great results
  • Substantial experience of leading a people team in an acquisitive environment
  • Exceptional at driving team performance and building their reputation across the group
  • Good balance of strategic thinking and doing the do! Rolls their sleeves up and leads by example
  • Technical understanding of large transformation projects and obligatory R subject matters (does not need to be a legal expert, we’ve got plenty of lawyers)
  • Thrives in an agile environment – able to make things happen
  • Grasps concepts quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organised, structured, articulate, calm

Our Marketing & People Team focus on building a high-performance culture with strong engagement and a reputation for developing talent at all levels. The team has around 25 members comprising People  Business Partnering, Development, Talent & Culture and People Operations functions. This is a dedicated team of individuals all passionate about helping our people succeed.

We have hubs in Birmingham, Leicester, Lincoln, London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon and Sheffield. This role will be predominantly home based with travel as required into Birmingham or one of our other office hubs.
