The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Project Manager to join our dynamic IT team. The candidate should have broad and deep experience of IT including dealing with cloud based technologies. You will proactively work with the operations and internal business teams, to identify current and emerging business requirements and support any respective change delivery.

Your key duties will be:

  • managing and delivering of diverse and complex business change projects supporting change initiatives across the firm
  • facilitating the delivery of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders by creating and delivering project work plans and identifying required resources and assigning responsibilities
  • meeting changing needs and requirements by managing change within the project environment and communicating any unauthorised exceptions to the project board and portfolio manager
  • managing risks and issues that will impact the project and assessing this against the plan to ensure that any exception scenarios are managed and given direction from the project board
  • managing the financial status of the project
  • facilitating design sessions across different functional teams (IT, business operations, fee earners, etc.)
  • overseeing the launch of any approved projects ensuring adherence to project deliverables and budgets
  • managing the day-to-day operational / delivery aspects of the projects including ensuring project documents are complete
  • directing and motivating the project team, giving clear direction and objectives during the project to ensure that the goals can be achieved
  • ensuring that there is a communications and stakeholder plan
  • managing of the project business benefits case during the project to ensure the project is always viable, then handover to the business once implementation has been achieved
  • delivering all standard products during the project lifecycle, e.g. stage plans, highlight reports, etc. as well as contributing towards enhancements / updates to improve the processes further
  • working on the completion of lessons learnt workshops and a post implementation review to ensure continuous improvement and evolution of project delivery

Skills and experience you will have:

  • previous experience in a similar role
  • delivery of change management, cloud based technologies, 3rd party supplier negotiations experience and  Azure experience
  • a demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of complex technical and service solutions in a complex environment and delivery of multiple projects
  • experience within the legal sector, consumer services industry, IT professional services is desirable, but not essential
  • the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, stakeholders, managers, subject matter experts and colleagues
  • the ability to identify, quantify, mitigate and resolve risks
  • a good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice
  • a PRINCE2, Agile PM and/or ITIL qualification is highly desirable, but not essential

Key competencies you will need:

  • strong problem solving abilities with the ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions. To be a lateral thinker
  • the ability to produce high quality materials, identify and develop opportunities to provide business benefit
  • a high degree of initiative and the ability to cope in a demanding environment
  • the ability to pull data from various sources to construct reports and business cases to solve business problems

We have hubs in Birmingham, Bristol, Leicester, London, Lincoln, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon and Sheffield. This is a hybrid role, and we will consider UK-Wide applicants, however you must be willing to travel to Birmingham on a frequent basis.
