Our Commercial Property team are one of the fastest growing real estate practices, having more than doubled income and significantly strengthened the team over the last two and half years. With the support of Planning and Construction, we have one of the best integrated teams. We act for local and national developers, pension funds and venture capitalists as well as foreign investors on projects throughout the UK.

The role:

We are looking for a solicitor who has gained good experience working within a recognised real estate team with experience of advising sophisticated clients on commercial property matters. Having experience of working on energy projects is welcome but not essential, however, a willingness to learn the skills required of a commercial property energy lawyer, with supervision, is required.

The successful candidate will work as part of a high-performing, friendly and supportive team providing assistance on all aspects of Commercial Property work but with a focus on energy projects  – including battery storage systems, wind farms, solar farms and district heating systems.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Property matters (including landlord and tenant)
  • A desire to enhance and build client relationships and exceed expectations, and play your part in ensuring the continuing success and growth of the team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to cope in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent organisational and prioritising skills, where you will manage your own caseload to tight deadlines, remain calm under pressure and prioritise your workload effectively
  • Give clear, practical advice with sound commercial judgment and swift accurate implementation of instructions
  • Negotiate effectively and deliver commercial solutions for our clients
  • Carry out title reviews and reports on title and leases, and prepare certificates of title (including all title investigation, searches, enquiries, drafting, negotiation, research, analysis, liaison with clients agents and third parties, meetings reporting on title, indemnity insurance arrangements, project management, administration and financial aspects, Land Registry or other applications (including SDLT) and post completion formalities, as well as understanding and delivering on clients' requirements and expectations (including all reporting requirements));
  • Draft and negotiate side letters, conditional and unconditional agreements for sale/lease/surrender, options, pre-emptions, deeds of variation, etc.)
  • Have experience of (and ideally have led) sales and purchases
  • Carry out asset management work
  • Work closely and collaboratively with team members, clients, and other professionals (e.g. agents, surveyors, consultants, accountants and others)
  • Delegate where appropriate and supervise and mentor more junior fee earner team members

This role can be a blend of home and office based working from any of our hubs, but the successful candidate will need to come into the Nottingham office twice a week.
