Meet the team:

Within Shakespeare Martineau, you will be supporting the Infrastructure & Specialist Markets (IS&M) business unit who are leading the way in the evolution of sustainable communities; providing legal advice and professional services across, but not limited to - construction, planning, later living, social housing, built to rent, industrial and logistics, energy, education, real estate, commercial and residential property.

You will also be supporting our Life & Business (L&B) Business Unit comprises Corporate, Commercial & IP and Wealth teams providing legal advice for ambitious UK businesses and also specialist support for the legal issues we all face as individuals and families in daily life. We also offer market expertise in specialist areas such as Banking & Financial Services, Islamic Finance and Family Business alongside many others.

You will be joining a dynamic forward thinking business that is constantly growing and evolving, creating the need for an experienced administration professional to work closely with the ISM and Life & Business executive group, the MD’s and Super Team leaders.  We have exciting and ambitious growth plans and we’re looking for someone who will share our passion.

The role:

You will provide high quality diary management and administrative support to the Infrastructure & Specialist Markets (I&SM) business unit and our Life & Business (L&B) Business Unit Life, predominately supporting the executive board.

You key duties will be:

  • Supporting the MD’s & Super Team Leaders with administrative and secretarial tasks and arranging meetings, liaising with Commercial, BD and People teams as required.
  • Diary management - diarising meetings, arranging travel, accommodation, meeting rooms and event registrations.
  • Attending executive board and cascade calls and following up on minutes and actions.               
  • Providing support to our business development partners with marketing activities.
  • Supporting with internal events, SHMA Stars and gifts for promotions.
  • Arranging annual Members Contribution Conversations and half year catch up conversations.
  • Support with any Conferences and Events within the team

Skills and experience you will have:

  • A minimum of 12 months’ previous secretarial and administrative experience in a busy office environment.
  • Confidence and high level of capability with IT systems to include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • The ability to work well in a team and develop good working relationships with colleagues and others.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise openly and clearly with all levels.
  • The ability to produce a high standard of work, sometimes under pressure, whilst maintaining accuracy and good attention to detail.
  • To be able to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and confidence in your own ability.

We have hubs in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leicester, Lincoln, London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon and Sheffield.  This role will be predominantly home based with travel as required into our Birmingham or Stratford upon Avon hubs. Occasionally, you may also be required to travel to our other offices.
