An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to create, lead and implement the Data Services strategy for the business, setting a vision for how this can drive the organisation forward both internally and externally.

By working cross functionally with senior management, Change Committee and Architecture functions, you will communicate and educate on opportunities for data-driven solutions to add material value.

You will identify and support key stakeholders within the business to achieve a transformative culture change towards industry-leading and customer-centric decision-making.

Your key duties will be:

  • Create and deliver the Group Data Services Strategy and deploy this across the organisation, enabling growth plans, efficiency gains, risk mitigation and other group objectives to be realised.
  • Create a new Data Services function that will deliver a contemporary and advanced set of services and solutions across the business including enabling self service models.
  • Create, socialise and deliver a clear Data strategy timetable and technology roadmap including any proposed data architecture, data governance and data quality strategies.
  • Use as titles for the accountabilities: Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Engineering and Data Analytics

Data Governance

  • Identify risks associated with the data platforms, technology, people and processes and mitigate these by developing a progressive plan.
  • Responsible for defining and implementing data policies across the data domain
  • Identification of data owners and ensuring accountability for data quality, data management, data accuracy and integrity

Data Architecture

  • Responsible for the data architecture function.  Ampa does not currently have an architect so this function will need to be developed.

Data Engineering

  • Materially enhance current internal and external self-service interfaces, reducing cost and ensuring quality of performance and core business intelligence.
  • Working closely with the stakeholders, identify new and innovative opportunities to deliver new value to the Group.
  • Assess, challenge and benchmark current Data Services and Business Intelligence capabilities against best practices with the aim of providing market-leading solutions.
  • Lead and engage an innovative and high performing team with the ability to articulate the vision and deliver effective solutions for Data Services.
  • Ensure Data Services and solutions are meeting and supporting the needs as dictated by our House of Brands strategy.

Data Analytics

Responsible for developing the data analytics function within the team to meet the business objectives. The analytics team should deliver:

  • Best practise data collection functions using Azure based technologies based on Microsoft reference architectures.
  • Data cleansing and curation routines in Azure and across a data lake.
  • The presentation of data and schemas for visualisation using PowerBI.

Skills and experience you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in creating and delivering Data Strategies
  • Excellent data infrastructure, platform, software as a service and warehouse and governance background
  • Excellent stakeholder management and corporate strategy experience, coming from a multi-entity, multi-brand experience.
  • Direct experience with the Microsoft Azure suite of data technologies
  • Ability to build and motivate a high performing team
  • Exceptional logical and analytical thinking
  • Demonstrating an ability to work under pressure to meet targets
  • Clear planning and prioritising skills
  • Extensive experience in engaging with and communicating to key stakeholders including Board members.
  • Demonstrating excellent time management skills
  • Previous experience of modern data science frameworks, analytic toolsets and other key technologies
  • Previous experience in delivering data solutions using automation toolsets in Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent PowerBI skills
  • At least 12 years industry related experience, 3 of which are in a similar role
  • Desirable:  Microsoft Data certification

We have hubs in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leicester, London, Lincoln, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Solihull, Stratford-upon-Avon and Sheffield. This role will be predominantly home based with travel as required into our hub locations.
